Ockment Valley Ringers

ockmentOckment Valley is a team of 13 Ringers (plus conductor) who practice each Tuesday night in Okehampton (the river Ockment runs through the town).  Not all the ringers are from the town however  - some come from Hatherleigh, one comes from Exeter and one from Tedburn St Mary.

Six of the ringers have been with the team since 1991 when they answered an advertisement in a newspaper about a handbell team being formed in Okehampton.

ockmentchristmasSince then they formed the Ockment Valley Handbell Ringers who are available for concerts and events in the Devon area. They play a variety of music, from modern to classical and hymns to music hall. They are regular attenders of handbell events and have performed in South West HRGB events

Ockment Valley are happy to ring as part of a programme or to be asked to provide a full 90 minute concert with interval interspersed with "non-ringing" items provided by members of the team such as funny stories and clarinet solos.

They ring a 4 1/2 octave set of Whitechapel handbells augmented by Bass Chimes to 5 octaves
